As best I can remember, it was the first time I’d awakened naked and face down in a pool of my own blood.

So begins No In Between, my first novel. It’s a mystery set in Washington, DC in which a former investigative reporter, who quit journalism after a personal tragedy, looks into the disappearance of his brother’s fiancee. The more he looks into her background, the more he’s drawn into a seedy and violent underworld — and the more he finds that nearly everything she’d said about herself was a lie.

The manuscript has been in the works in one form or another for several years now. The writing is finished, but the business of publishing is sloooooooooow. After a series of cancellations and delays, I’m self-publishing the entire book in the next few weeks. For now, here’s a pdf of the first chapter.
